The Northumberland Borough Council has adopted an ordinance that amends the Borough Code to provide for a new part of Chapter 30, Property Maintenance, entitled "Neighborhood Blight Protections and Enforcement". The ordinance was adopted at the Borough Council meeting on September 3, 2013 at 175 Orange Street, Northumberland.

Northumberland Borough Council has set its meetings for 2013. The first meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2013 in the S. Luther Savidge Room at the 2nd Street Community & Municipal Center.
Other council meetings are scheduled for January 15, February 5 & 26, March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4 & 25, July 16, August 6, September 3, October 1, November 4 (Monday), December 3 & 17. Work Sessions/Council meetings are scheduled for March 19, April 16, May 20 (Monday), August 20, September 17, October 15, and November 19.

It is unlawful for any person to throw, dump or place in any manner whatsoever any refuse upon any streets or alleys in the Borough of Northumberland, or for any person to permit his agent or anyone under his control or supervision to do the same.
The Northumberland Fire Company #1 was the high bidder for the former Borough Building at 219-221 2nd Street on October 20, 2012. The winning bid was $73,000. The property will be transferred within the next month.

A glass of ice cold lemonade on a hot, sunny August day will certainly be on everyone’s minds on Saturday, August 6 for the seventh annual Lemonade Day at the Second Street Community Center at 2nd & Orange Streets. Festivities will begin at 11:00 am and end around 4:00 pm. There will be food, games, music, contests & raffles, a petting zoo and of course lemonade stands!
