Q. When is Pineknotter Days?
The 2008 edition of Pineknotter Days will be held from June 29-July 4, 2008
in King Street Park. The schedule for this event is to be
announced.
Q. What is being done with the old Second Street building?
The Borough of Northumberland purchased the former Second Street
building in 2000. Since then, Council has committed itself to
finance any renovations through grant, and not tax money. In 2002,
the Borough was awarded nearly $200,000 to help install a new roof to
the building. In 2006, the Borough finally received additional
funding in the amount of $400,000. At this time, final plans are
being drafted which will then be released to the public.
Q. I have a complaint, who should I talk to?
As a general rule, you should first contact the Borough office at
473-1990 to discuss your issue. Thereafter, you might be asked to
address Council or talk to the mayor. Since Council typically only
meets twice a month, calling the Borough office first is your best
chance at a quick resolution.
Q. Do I live in the Borough?
Surprisingly, the answer might be 'no'! The Borough of
Northumberland includes properties from below Priestley-Avenue to the
south side of Eighth street. From the north side of Eighth street
and onward is Point Township and not the Borough. Even though your
address might say Northumberland, you might not actually live there.
Leaving towards Danville, The Borough ends right before the old
Prudential Building, where Point Township begins.
Q. Can anyone drop off recycling at the Northumberland Glass
Center?
During normal operating hours, ANYONE can
drop off recycling, regardless of where you live.
